Fishing on a Wednesday Okee Bay

Fishing on a Wednesday Okee Bay - it's a simple pleasure and luxury. It can be relaxing or energizing depending on the surprise on the end of the hook. I wonder how the fish feel about it?

D.C. struggles to keep pace as bike population grows - The Washington Post

D.C. struggles to keep pace as bike population grows - The Washington Post

Bikes across from the White House image by Wendy Soucie
I am here in Washington DC this week as a citizen advocate from Wisconsin at the National Bike Summit. The summit hotel is just 5 blocks from the White House and 1 block from a Capitol Bikeshare station. There are lots of people riding here.  Men in suit and tie, workers, ladies in dresses, young and old, locals and visitors.

Most of the people at the conference who opted not to bring their regular bike or a folding bike is pretty comfortable for the sturdy rental bikes that are a bright and shiny red in the sunlight.

I have yet to take a spin myself, as the line up of educational sessions and the full day of meetings with elected official will tie up Thursday.  What I do know is that the sessions on Bike Share programs at this conference are packed and Minnesota seems to be a leader. Madison then is definitely going in the right direction with their fledgling B Cycle program launched in Madison.

Wisconsin Bike Federation Summit 2012 - BFW.org wendysoucie Storify

Wisconsin Bike Federation Summit 2012 - BFW.org wendysoucie Storify

I attended the 2012 Wisconsin Bike Federation Summit this year representing Columbia Columbia County (Wisconsin) and the town of West Point.

I again walked away with new enthusiasm for our efforts to make biking safer for individuals and families in WI.

Along with local efforts to make my local community more healthy by encouraging active lifestyles, which biking clearly supports, there is a more active role interested individuals can take. One is joining the Wisconsin Bike Federation which supports education on biking, legislative issues and planning support for communities trying to have smart plans about bike trails/paths/routes in their communities.

Ready for anything a Wisconsin spring can dish out. #photoaday2012

Ready for anything a Wisconsin spring can dish out. My car is my second office and my athletic endeavor staging area. To that end, I have hiking gear, biking gear, workout gear, swim items and now my bike in my car. Not bad timing since the Wisconsin Bike Summit starts tonight and runs through Tuesday 2/21/12. #photoaday2012

A Photo A Day 2012, a set on Flickr.

I like to take odd photos through out my day. Some to be used at some future date for a blog. Some to document a wonderful meeting at a local establishment. I thought I would try a photo a day effort to see how long I could do it with my phone.

I am using the Flickr app on my Android and not touching up the photos I post. For this particular effort these are going to be photos that inspire my social business relationships, help me with social capital, move me to think about social product development.

I actually started on 1/31/12 but have almost covered the rest of the month anyway with related pictures. Let the picture taking begin.
